| I'm currently restoring my 80 931 and am in the process of dismantling the rear suspension. I have removed the spring plate covers and remoed the torsion bars, but cannot remove the torsion bars from the spring plates, how do I do this? Also, does anyone know of any aftermarket spring plates? |

I've successfully removed the spring plates from t-bars with mechanical persuasion (hammers). Not necessary to do unless you're replacing the t-bars.
No aftermarket spring plates are available or needed; stock are all you'll ever need - unless you have a GTR! If you're looking to make the car stiffer, what you want is stiffer (bigger) torsion bars. If you want to make it handle "better" - you probably just want a bigger rear swaybar.
Sounds like you don't know much about the rear suspension, or have a clear idea of what you want to do. Read the Tech Section (link above) about suspension, then decide what you want to do, and post back

i've found that 'persuasion' is often needed when pulling them out. the splines can rust into the end cap (spring plate cover). just consider yourself luck that they didn't rust in the center of the torsion carrier. i soaked the inside of the covers with wd-40 and then beat on it until it came loose. it's a real pita but it works.
good luck
