I own a 1988 924S. Its due for an oil change and for once, Id like to do it myself. Is changing the oil for this car the same as changing the oil for a toyota?
I'm debating whether I should use 15W-50 or 20W-50. Which is better? I'm from the southern region of the states.
Are there anything I should be careful with while changing the oil? |

I would think an oil change is an oil change for any car.....
not sure what viscocity is recommended for the 924s, diff engine than the 924.
I think it depends on your temperatures too...
20w50 I think is best for the 924 na engine. _________________ 78 924 sold.

I would go with the 20W50 in the heat. I run 10W40 up here in Oregon. Watch the oil filter. You have to get one with a footvalve or risk engine damage over the long run. (or short run if the oil pump looses prime) I highly recomend going with the mahal (sp) OEM style. The aftermarket filters seem to be a crapshoot for what they have inside this week. The oilfilter is installed upside down so it will dump oil when you remove it. Be prepared with rags etc. The aluminum oil pan is easily damaged by hamfisted wrenching. Make sure the seal is good on the oil plug and don't attempt to over tighten it to make it quit leaking. _________________ Glenn Neff

I wouldn't go with 20w50. I put that in and My oil pressure was pegging out except after it was really warmed up and at idle. _________________ 1987 924S Guards Red
