| i'm going to set my 78 92 as an autocrosser and i'm looking for suggestions from anyone with any experience doing this. the only modification the engine has so far is 9.3 euro pistons. i've got a throttle body off of a 5000 audi that i'm going to put on, but the intake manifold will need to be ported for it to do any good. and then the head will need it as well, and then exhaust. the biggest thing i need help on is the cam, i've been told to use a stage 1 for its low end torque. i've also got a 944 transaxle i want to put in, but i need an input shaft out of a 924 5 speed to make it work, and i'm also going to do the four wheel disc upgrade. i could use some suggestions on suspension set up. does the guide in the automotion catalog seem to work? |

CS,
I have a '77 924 that i am currently setting up myself for autocrossing. While I have not done the engine mods as of yet. I am planning on doing some. The suspension is really up to you on how far you want to go. I have done some suspension mods to my car. As far as intake, head, and exhaust I know of a great source to get that work done. E-mail me privately or contact me at work, Huntley Racing,(619)448-3800 or http://www.huntleyracing.com

I just put the 944 5-speed in my racecar without the input shaft mod you describe - do you have the matching torque tube from the 944? If so, you can use the clutch disc from a Rustang - email me direct for the application, so I don't forget:

Just to follow up with others who might have been interested; the clutch disk from an '83 Rustang 5-speed will allow you to fit the torque tube and 5-speed from a 931/944/924S onto the back of a 924 engine. Everything else bolts up; it will allow you to mate the larger driveshaft of the later design to the smaller diameter flywheel used in the 924NA.
Thanks to Pete Tinucci for this info...
