Short question: will the hood release cable from a Golf/Rabbit work in the 924? If not, is there another that will? _________________ 1984 indischrot 924 |

'cause I need it NOW, and experience suggests the local Porsche dealer won't have it on the shelf.
EDIT: I checked, they didn't, and it would cost 52,50 Euros through them, with today's exchange rate that's $63 US and change. _________________ 1984 indischrot 924

Should be the same as the 944 i would assume and my dealer carries the sunroof clips for 944s. If you really wanted to you could use bicycle brake cables if u rigged it up correctly i would assume if u really are in a pinch. _________________ 90 944 S2

If your looking to get McGyver-ish..
I recently replaced the inner twisted cable of a lawnmower control with some 16 gauge solid wire exactly like this -
(click small pic for large)
Here's the mower fix -
I used small machine screws, nuts and washers at both ends to terminate the wire. If so inclined, you could do something similar to this with the hood release cable if the outer sheath is reusable. There are no sharp bends, so a solid wire would work fine. Grease it as you slip it in.
I measure the OE hood release inner cable at .057" (1.45mm) and the 16 gauge galvanized solid wire at .063" (1.6mm) - probably close enough for the 16 ga. wire to fit. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."
