This is the best I have at the moment -

The strut mounting ball is just about 1 inch from the lines where they bend there at the right.

!tom - The OE switch consists of a metal tab that contacts the struts' rod and a plastic sleeve that slips between the tab and the rod when the hatch is closed. 2 pics of that starting here -

Both left and right hatch struts have spade terminals at both ends for electrical connection to the defrost grid -
