Guys...thank you for your detailed explanations. Seems like a truly wonderous thing you have there. Something not seen over here, or at least not commonly.
I'm familiar with full-on dry sump arrangements, but this seems to be a half-way house with far simpler operation (and cost).
Obviously there must be an air line fitting on the other side?

The location would probably work. Be sure to look at all the hoses available, the typical SS wrap Earls Permaflex type hose is very stiff and takes fittings to get around turns. There are are other hoses that might be much more flexible. Costs for fittings can easily be much higher than a for a premium hose. I use a manual valve also, with that location an electric one would probably be required(but then the car is usable on the street also). Fragola makes a fitting that puts a 1/8" pipe pressure/temperature gauge port in a -10 line.

There is typically a pressure guage and air charge fitting on one end of the tank and the outlet on the other. Moroso makes them as well as Canton Accusump.

Prototype the setup with even some old garden water hose and some plastic sewer pipe before buying much stuff-a lesson learned the hard way.

I charge the tank air with a bicycle pump, If not a one time deal, than a tank rebuild is required.

Thanks Mike...wow some food for thought there. Now for some research.
Thanks again.

Do you just open the valve very slowly so you don’t starve the engine of oil while it is filling for the first time?

Yes, absolutely; in our ITB car, it's on the passenger floor side with a manual valve. We open the valve for oil changes, and then refill carefully (with some revs, not at idle, to improve flow) after restarting.

And you fill the engine to full on the dipstick, and then put another 3 quarts of oil in it?

Run it 3 quarts over full while you fill the tank?

If you fill it at revs, wouldn’t it cause you to run much over full at idle?
If you fill it at say 3000 rpm with hot oil, wouldn’t it fill more at 6000 rpm and cause the engine to run less than full?

How does the engine oil level in the sump not change all over the place at different oil pressures/RPMs?

How does it work for a cold start at 8+ bar of oil pressure, and then not flood the engine with oil at a 1 bar hot idle?

I rev it only while filling; once settled, and back at idle, I'll close the valve before engine shutoff, so the accusump is full of oil at idle pressure.

So when we shut it down hot, there'll be more oil in the engine; after it cools post-race, we restart it, refill the accusump, shut the accusump valve, engine off, 5 min to settle then check oil level.

The oil level certainly will move around depending on temp and revs.

Total capacity is indeed 2 gallons (8 quarts) - don't forget the cooler and oversize remote filter.

At speed - we have enough oil. Don't forget that, in operation (4000-6000rpm) there's also a good bit of oil in circulation around the engine, up in the head and still in the process of draining down.

To keep the engine oil level about correct, I turn the manual valve on my Accusump off when the engine is about 3000 and 65-75 lbs on the cool off lap.
I also fill the engine about 1/2 quart over the full mark on the dipstick when the Accusump is full and the valve closed. As Vaughan says there is a bunch of oil slopping around the engine before it drains back into the sump when it is on the track.
I also forgot the mention that the initial air charge on the Accusump is about 5-10 pounds before it is first filled with oil. The oil pressure pushes the piston back and the pressure gauge is actually measuring the air pressure in the Accusump which is approximately the same as the oil side of the piston.
