|
|
Just a reminder of the eligibility requirement to ALL drivers competing or interested in competing for the National Championship in their respective classes.
All National drivers MUST compete in 2 out-of-region events to be eligible for the Championship (http://www.gtschallenge.com/2004rules.htm - scroll to bottom):
Quote: | "National championship points are calculated by the sum of a drivers 16 best scoring races. A minimum of four races must be held at events hosted by a NASA region other than the driver’s home region. Joint events (any event hosted by 2 or more NASA regions) are considered home region events for members of one or more of the hosting regions. One Super Event is hosted by each NASA Region. Points earned at Super Events will be tripled for National Championship competitors. If a driver chooses to run in more than 2 Super Events, only the four best scoring races will be tripled. Super events may count towards a driver’s out of home region requirements for National Championship points." |
The Super Events, as noted, are:
June 19-20 - Road Atlanta
July 31-Aug 1 - VIR
Aug 20-22 - Mid-Ohio
So start making plans! _________________ Vaughan Scott

Sounds great! GTS gets better and better.
Wish there was a regional series in Northeast. _________________ R.I.P.:a 924 ITA race car |

Yeah, I don't know when NASA NE will start road-racing; I guess they have a difficult time getting track time?
To all - note some corrections to the original post, to reflect a clarification of the rules for eligibility. Namely, Super Event attendance is not explicitly required, only the attendance of 2 out-of-region events. Be that as it may, attendance of at least one would be well advised for those in the more hotly-contested classes; at triple points value, you can hardly afford to miss them! _________________ Vaughan Scott

|
|
Super Events:
We chose three events that are in the middle of the season and at the finist facilities in each region. Road Atlanta in June, VIR in July and MidOhio in August. Some Pro series don't have it that good. Also, The August Event at MidOhio is a huge event. Thousands of paying spectators, car shows, etc... GTS Challenge will have our own run group, and if the April race is any indicator, the competition will be great.
NE region racing:
Track dates at LRP and WG are almost impossible to get, unless you want to race on a week day. We are very lucky to have two weekends at MidOhio. The closest GTS Challenge race for you NE racers would be our two events at Beaverun, June 5-6 and Labor Day. MidOhio is only another two hours from Beaverun! _________________ Mark Barr
