Mine did that too. As a test, remove the rubber boot from the motor while the headlights are up and the headlight switch is off. Turn the black knob. If your lights go back down, your headligh motor is probably ok. Your relay would be suspect. You could either replace it, or open it up to sand some crud from the contacts. I did the latter, and it solved my problem.

nope my relay and motor are fine, the lights go up just not down.. I can push the relay contact with my finger and they go down, I think it must be my headlight switch.. is there another relay for the headlights besides the one on the motor?

No, that's the only one. Look at a loose contact at the connector for the motor - do things happen if you wiggle it? It's very common, as noted in the FAQ.

I found the problem, one of the diodes on the motor was fried, I put a new one in and it works great...

well there are 2 diodes, I think one for up and one for down. so if your motor only goes one way, like mine did, its probably a diode. plus I tested the relay and switch..

I had the same trouble, they came up, but not down. I think I tryed everything, even the relay. I desided to crack open the motor and have a look. one of the 2 diodes was fried. I determined this by the plastic around the diode was semi burnt, like it had heated up before it died. I replaced it with the same diode from a dead motor off my parts car, and bada bing, bada boom, the motor worked great.
