Holy crap. Years ago I had a 2.6 litre Rover that broke it's cambelt and dropped a valve - punched a hole clean through the top of one of the pistons. Even that didn't make as much of a mess as these pictures show, but I can't see what else could have done that sort of damage.
My engine seized, but I guess that if it kept turning for a while with bits of broken valve inside the cylinders then it would cause the kind of dents shown here. I certainly wouldn't trust that head again, and I wouldn't be too sure about the block either. _________________ 1980 931 (with the odd electrical quirk...) |
