where's the info on VIN #'s

the metal tag on my car says it was made 6/79,title says its an 80, went to the registry and my VIN # is numerically between 2 cars made in 10/78 well which is it,my VIN is 9249202738.

The fourth digit of the VIN is the year for the type of VIN that you have. Your car is a 1979.

A 1980 title is not surprising. Some states date the vehicle when it is first titled.
