Hey Gang, can anyone throw up some numbers for the fuel distributor for the 931? Did they use the same FD all years of did they differ?

My friend's 931 is a '81 and mine's a 82. Else, these are dead ringer twins. But the part number for the FD is different. These 2 chicks are RoW cars so they don't have the O2 sensor...

Also, I found some injectors at my VW parts place going for cheap. Should I grab them? What part numbers are they?

Thanks for any info.

Have a nice weekend!!!

Sprint.

If the injectors thread into the insulators, and meet 931 spec, then I'd say grab them.
Otherwise, the pressure from the turbo is going to blow the injectors out of your cylinder head!

ROW '79-80 931.110.907.00 Bosch PN 0.438.100.047
ROW '81-82 931.110.907.02

US '80-82 931.110.907.01 Bosch PN 0.438.100.048

The airflow metering box is different between MY and markets too.

John at http://www.specialtauto.com/porsche-parts/index.html may be able to help you with other ROW spec Bosch PN and rebuilds.

Ok.. I gotta ask, what's the different between the distributor block and the mixture control unit? Is the mixture control for Lamda? I assume the distributor block is the FD as in fuel distributor?

Thanks.

The mixture control unit is the same thing as the air-flow sensor unit. It is the box that the fuel distributor (block) sits on, and has the round plate in it. That plate "floats" up and down as air passes and is attached to a lever that adjusts a plunger that is in the center of the fuel distributor. The plunger meters fuel going to the injectors.

The distributors and metering units differ between models and years, so you can't just arbitrarily take any one from one car and put it on another car and expect things to work properly.

Yup, I understand. And the difference comes from the way the funnel is shaped that allows the plate to be lifted differently at different air flow rates?

Perhaps we should try come up with a list of 'desirable' air-flow sensors. I've read in a Bosch book on modifying their systems and though the section on K-jet is very small, they mentioned swapping for flow.

Of coz mixing and matching is very important.

Also, some of the distributors have additional lines and sensors attached. Likewise for the air-flow units. Different years, different markets, etc.
