I'm looking for information about the 924 Carrera GT, GTS and GTR. Since some of these cars made their way to the USA, possible somebody in this board may have some hints for me ?
I would also be happy about additional information about the 924 GTR IMSA projects.

TIA and best regards,
Tom

Information I'm looking for:
How many GT or GTS are in the USA ?
Most of the GTR were exported. It is very hard to find them. I just know two of them. Are there any known GTR in the USA. Are information about races in the eighties available?
Finally, where can I find information about the tube-frame IMSA 924 GTRs ?

Thx,
Tom

Think a GTR replica of sorts can beat an Escort Cosworth? I mean a fully-built race Cosworth RS.

I'm working on a project to get the complete history of the 924 Carreras together. That's the background for my search.

I know a 924 CGT with a nice 951 (944 turbo) motor, that still races today an can easily beat most other cars.

Regards,
Tom

I've also recently received some corrections regarding the cars... apparently there were some RHD cars built... will have to update all that stuff when I have time...

On Dec 6, I saw a red Carrera GTS at Roebling Rd racetrack close to Savannah, GA, USA. Alan Friedman, from VA, USA, was giving some watercooled 911s & early cup cars a run for it at a PCA race.

Car was close to original, had some cross referenced parts to make up for NLA parts, Mercedes V8 fuel distributor, a 924 ball joint had to be CNC machined down to fit. Car had 917 type front struts & brakes. It had original aluminum cage, original 951 (944T) type intake manifold & big intercooler mounted up front. Top radiator support looked to be gone. The turbo was mounted on same side as stock 931 & had the popoff valve type compressor, like a 931. The wastegate was set for 16lbs boost.

Mr Friedman had a copy of Euro sales brochure & the GTS cost more than 911 turbo.
