My '80 924 runs rough when cold, similar to the post RE: cold start probs. When cold, it idles around 200rpm, runs better when warm. I've replaced the aux air valve and the cold start valve, yet it's not spraying any fuel while cold.

Thermo time switch? Gremlins? Fiancee sabotaging the car?

thanks

Holy cow dude, I'm right next door to you, I've never seen another 924 in the area though. You need to go through the trouble-tree in the Bosch book or the Porsche manual. Some things you can check without the pressure gauges and some you can't.

Actually, there is one thing I'd check if I were you right off; make sure the car has no vacuum leaks and your bellows between the throttle body and fuel distributor are tight and uncracked. I'm in Ellington by the way.

It doesn't spray ANY fuel? sounds like a pressure problem, WUR, fuel pump, accumulator.

An open circuit in the thermotime switch would cause the cold start valve not to spray fuel. You can check the switch with an ohm meter. With the engine temp less than 100F you should get a circuit between the contacts. Another test is to jumper the connector to the thermotime switch, then start the engine. If it runs correctly your problem is the switch. Good luck.
