A workmate rang me last night regarding cold start problems on his 81 924.
I told him to check out the thermo switch and the other components of the cold start system.
As a temporary measure until he got a chance to find the fault. He was opening the air filter and pressing the fifth injector. He would turn on the ignition, and not able to crank the engine as he was on his own,he would manually press the fifth injector for 3-10 seconds.
When he then cranked the engine it fired but still took a long while to start.
My rather long winded question is this:
Would this method actually flood the engine and make it more difficult to start?

Hi
What do you mean by 'pressing the fifth injector'?

| You can't press the cold start valve(fifth injector), are you talking about the plate under the boot near the air filter? |

Apparently he unclipped the air filter and then pressed the injector to help start the car.
I thought that this was flood the engine and make it more difficult to start |

ahh yes that's the k-jet or plate.
controls all four injectors
If it helps then the cold start valve or warm up regulator is bad. The car should start when cold without the cold start valve if tuned properly. |
