Have installed a switch which secures ground to the cold start valve. Have troubble starting the car when it is hot (always starts again if I wait 20 minutes). Problem is that the installed switch makes no difference. When the car does not start the idea is that I should depress the switch, securing ground to the valve, which īthen should open and allow extra gas to be injected into the chamber (the fifth injection. I believe that I have installed the switch correctly (using rather thick wire, perhaps too thick?)but as I have said, it makes no difference. Will it help if I buy a new cold start valve and install it? Want very much to get rid of this hot start problem as the car runs really well, a 1980 924 standard model, European. Any suggestions? | Remove the cold start valve and place it in a jar. Have someone crank the engine and see if it is squirting fuel. If not check the voltage at the hot lead to the valve while the engine is being cranked. If the voltage is good (12 volts), then ground the ground side of the valve to the chassis. Now crank and look for fuel. If you still have none, replace the valve. My guess is that the valve is working properly, but you are not getting a good ground through your new switch. |

| I had this problem of the hot starts and it was the fuel accumulator that solved my problem. If you check the hanes manual it will give a list of possible culprits. |
