1988 924S built in 7/87. I have the Haynes manual for the 944 and the schematics have me a bit confused. So I'm having a hard time deciphering my headlight motor problem. When I turn the light switch on the lights raise properly with out any problems, when I turn the switch off the motor tries to raise the lights while the lights are already on. I detached the motor from the linkage and set the motor where I could see it while activating the switch, sure enough the motor turned in the same direction whether turning the switch on or off. Also my cooling fans work at full speed when I turn the aircondition nob on, but as soon as I turn the car off the cooling fan turns off then the temperature begins to soar. I've replaced the temperature switch which is attached to the radiator with no improvements. I don't know why my cooling fan will not stay on after shutting of my engine even when it is past the half way mark. Any advise with any of these problems would be grately appreciated. Thank You!!

The motor should turn in the same direction weather you are turning the lights on or off, as it works on one full revolution of the linkage cam.It goes all the way up to open the head lights and then carries on in the same direction to close them. you can see this done if you disconnect the linkage from the motor and rotate the bar by hand.

Cooling fan should run at full speed when A/C is on and at half speed when car is hot and ignition is off. This is controled by the fan relay which switches a resistor into the circuit. Check the relay first, then the resistor circuit.
