Could have been worse. The 1980 NA in my sig was purchased this way. Fire started at a short by the sheet metal clamp on the firewall. Now each clamp has heat shrink on the clamp itself
Engine bay is clean and nice now.

Nice car! Glad to hear you are sticking with the project.
I really like the look of those Boxster 16" wheels on a 924 body.. Kind of like cup wheels but more aggressive looking. _________________ 1980 Porsche 931

That's a cool project; sad to hear it's seen some setbacks. It's kind of similar to mine: it's got a better body and interior, but I'm lucky to have no rust to speak of. Fires are fun when you're camping, not so much under the hood... There are so many avenues for fuel leaks on these, especially when you're tinkering with the injection system. I recently got mine running again, and you can bet I had a fire extinguisher nearby, and I've just left it on the passenger's seat until it's better sorted. Ultimately, I should buy one for every vehicle. You just never know. I don't suppose you can get a discount on, say, a five-pack...
Anyway, I skimmed through the whole thread, and it looks like you've been doing great work on her! Cars like this need to be saved. I hope it's back in daily driver shape soon; keep us updated! _________________ 1980 931 diamond in the rough |
