Hi All
Starting the process of rebuilding the engine in my race car. I am considering options on the clutch/flywheel assembly and would like some advice.
Currently the car has a slightly lightened stock flywheel and has had the grove for the clutch disc cut shallower to increase clamping pressure.
Is it possible to buy an alloy flywheel?
Does any one have experience with the spec clutch kits?
Can a turbo flywheel be fitted to a NA engine (I am retaining torque tube/gearbox)?

Cheers

you can absolutely use a 931 clutch but its a pretty laborious project. i just did it. you would need:
-931 bellhousing, flywheel pressure plate, clutch disc. the pressure plate is the same as a 911 sc btw.
-931/944 throwout bearing
- hydraulic pedal assembly. requires drilling hole for master cylinder

the 931 has the pilot bearing in the flywheel and will not work with the NA torque tube. if you can find a disk that has the right outer diameter with the correct spline you can probably keep the na torque tube and retain the flywheel installed bearing. or you can source a 944 tt and use the correct 931/944 pilot bearing.
also im not sure how difficult it will be on a rhd drive car to do this i just did this to a lhd car.

If you have the NA flywheel and torque tube. I asked, Morghen said he has had not had any trouble with this supercharged cars with the stock clutch. Raceboy had his turboed NA on a stock clutch. I believe 50plus said had tried the Spec clutches and they didn't work out well . I have 3lb lightened flywheel for my new motor.

Thankyou for your responses!
Due to the class I race in modifications are tight. Is it possible to use a turbo flywheel with the NA clutch cover & plate?
