Call EBS Racing in Reno, they can get bushings(I think Crower) to resize the 24mm to 22mm.

Let me know how this goes. There are shops out there that do this since I have researched this a bit over a half a year ago

Recently I was building a turbo motor where I was going to offset bush the rods so my piston CH (Compression Height) distance could be adjusted. Opened up piston choices for me. I know think my rods might be better suited for a NA build and not heavy boost shock. Will likely move back to Crower's

I can't recall the valve clearance with the flat tops but you may have room to play around with offset bushings as well.

Would be good to know if a place to buy bushings. I’ve asked my engine machine shop to make them for my 16v build when I dropped off the block, crank, rods and pistons yesterday. I didn’t tell them they were only 1mm wall thickness but they said, yeah, we make small end bushes from time to time, no problem! Hopefully they don’t retract on that statement!!

I ordered 22mm bushings from Peter Nowen Motorsport 5 years ago: https://www.facebook.com/NowenMotorsport/

They were parts made for Saab OD 27,05mm ID 22,00mm and width 25,5mm

Plenty of VW type 4 piston small end bushings listed on google which are 24mm OD and 22.4mm ID. These bushings are designed to be pressed in to the rod, then reamed to final size once fitted so could be reamed to 22mm for the flat top pistons I imagine. Then have the oil hole drilled?

Example seller:

Just received 22mm reducing bushings from EBS Racing, were in stock and $10 ea. 27mm OD, 22 Id undersized sized for ream to size. My motor machinist did not want to go about ordering pistons without the bushings in hand.

Good info! 27mm? I thought 924 were 24mm - apologies if ive got that wrong, makes my post above completely irrelevant!

My block and pistons are with the machinist now and should be ready in 2 weeks - he’s machining some bushes for me though, but I doubt he’ll churn them out for £10, let alone 10USD! I’d pay 3x that in shipping and tax though!

I think you misunderstood. The pin is indeed 24 but the new bushing is 27x22 for a 22mm wrist pin. so stock is 27x24

Ah, yes, my bad! Makes much more sense to install one new thicker bushing, than insert a bush within a bush!

Got me wondering now what my shop is planning/doing!
