I Got a 924 Porsche with the al holbert body kit it’s something like the 900th 924 ever imported in the us. So I have lots of time on my hands and was thinking about engine swaps since the little 2.0 doesn’t do much for me. I was thinking an ls a Audi 5 or a 1.8. I know some people will say that to just get a 924s or 944 but this car is kinda different. The previous owner fixed all the rust places but a small one in the fender. Brand new floor one and the car itself is in good shape and I know trying to take the body kit off will probably do more harm than good.

For any swap I’ll have to fabricate a crossmember or find a way to put a 944 crossmember under the car. It has a 944 transaxle in the back. It’s not going to be a daily driver or even close. It’s going to be purely a race car that I can drive up the road to get gas. The interior is completely gutted and it has 944 from suspension and brakes. It has the block of the 2.0 in it but the parts are so expensive and it’s a bore of a motor to me.

What do you guys think about swaps is it too much work to change the torque tube and crossmember to put say an ls in or should I just keep the car and find another? If you guys think I should swap it tell me which engine I should go with thanks.[/list]

Have you done this swap what exactly would I need to do to complete the swap the only accessory I would really need would be an alternator and a water pump if you consider it a “accessory”. Also I’ve read the Audi motor fits right in and I’ve read it’s no where close

I think I’ve decided on a 07k the junkyard almost right next to my house has 4 cars with the 07k in there it seems like the biggest problem is trying to figure out the crossmember on a 944 but since I have no power steering I might be able to cheat that a little bit the reason I went with a 07k is because that this car was converted to carbs long ago and all the components to put it back would be a pain to find and along with expensive it would probably come up to just about as much fixing the stock engine than swapping in a newer fuel injected engine. Another problem is that our 924s have cable clutches and pretty much any engine swap would require a hydraulic clutch.
