Yesterday I found this relay in the battery box. The wiring going to it looks like it could have been done at the factory, but what does it do? The car has been on SORN since 2008 and I bought it a couple of months ago.
Edit: It's a 1977 Euro car.

Weird. I've tried searching both the numbers on the relay and nothing. My guesses are, headlight washers, security system, fog lights.
You could try starting the car and turning everything on and then unplug it and see what stops working. If the car dies, then you know it's something with fuel or ignition (which could be security system if you have that). |

Hello,
that relay is factory solution for the hot-start issue.I am not sure how it works but it builds up fuel pressure in the lines.

Thanks! The engine starts fine without it (The ground cable had come off) but I haven't tested how well it starts when warm so that might very well be it. I traced the cable back, and it connects to a sensor at the back of the engine block. _________________ Felix

That sensor is probably the thermo time switch? Back of the head?
Or is it a 2-prong switch in the coolant line under the ignition coil? _________________ Vaughan Scott
