Can anyone tell me what K26 this is from ? I got it in a parts lot as a 944 wheel and would like to install it into a turbo I'm about to send out for the housing swap to a 951 water cooled unit..

TIA,

Me

Think it's a viable wheel to put on our K26's ?

Yes if its not beat up. Its sits between the S2's 2664 and the GTS 2670 wheels. So with a #6 turbine it will be good to go. If I didn't have Morghens K27/26 turbo to install, I'd have done similar. I did buy a 2670 wheel which I will hang onto just in case I need to rebuild a turbo.

The wheel is in great shape. Guess I need a new scroll housing and backing plate for it now too though...

That is what is on my 931.. It is the k26/6 from the earlier 944 turbos.
I think it will do 20psi on a 2.0 before it gets too inefficient.. 15psi feels real good on it..

Do you have the rest of that compressor including the housing and backplate?
I know the wheel won't fit in a 931 housing unless you have it bored and it would probably be more economical to just buy a k26/6 core to take the entire compressor off of than to bore the 931 housing to fit the wheel..

I forget if the k26/6 comp housing fits on the 931 backplate and which has which comp side piston size etc.. But it might..
They don't just always "fit" unless you take the entire compressor assembly including piston, wheel, backplate, and housing..

Unless you want to keep the 931 comp housing with its recirc valve and all it's prolly easier and maybe cheaper to buy a worn out k26/6 to steal the whole compressor off of..
In that case if you are having it bored ask them how big of a wheel they could bore it out to for me because I do kinda like that housing..

If you are just looking to upgrade your compressor wheel and have the 931 housing bored that wheel is a little bigger than the 931 S1 wheel but one of those billet wheels is probably much better..

What all parts do you got there eh?

I have a k26/6 water cooled bearing housing too and thought about running it but something about it, I think the heat shield spacing, made it not fit the 931 turbine manifold.. I think a shim would fix it though..

I have that k26/6 bearing housing if you need it, and an Audi water cooled housing that I think could be made to work in a 931 turbo by replacing the studs on its oil inlet/outlet iirc..

CRSRs post looks familiar.. http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=40119

If you have a bunch of parts and want to figure out where they came from by the part numbers click that..

You could probably bore a 931 housing for it but like I said if you were going to do that you might as well go with one of those billet wheels..

Or, you could buy a worn out k26/6 for like $100-$200 on rennlist to get all the k26/6 compressor parts from..
