You know I think it's the best colour. I hope you getting it performing great again. Why the n/a rather than a turbo? |
Got nostalgia for the NA since quite a bit of time now.
Turbos are quite a bit of money lately, i got about 10k eur for mine and i dont want another costly car, i still have the Cayman and Touareg for that
I bought this car because it was fairly close to me, needed saving and it was the right price for me.
I didnt like the color but now i do
I’m working on it every day, slowly getting it closer to road worthyness.
Idea is to freshen it up, style it and keep it reliable as my previous 924s were.

Picked up my exhaust downpipe from my welder buddy. He added a second O2 bung for the exhaust temp sender and a flex section to save the manifold from cracking. He also cut the pipe just after the sender and added a V-band there and at the tail end where it would normally feed into the cat. This allows me to adjust the pipe and remove just the section I need if I have to do work underneath. I always hated the fact you needed to remove the entire friggin system to get just the WG or turbo bit off. Will get a high flow cat with V-bands added as well and the a complete cat-back 951 unit with high flow muffler.
This stuff is all for Sabine so doesn't need to be stock parts thankfully.. _________________ 1979 Euro 931, Olive

Nice! The factory design is a engineering madness, so many fixed flamges and no place to take up tolerances. I put a flexhose on the dp at the ssme place as you, works great. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Yup, definitely a weak spot on these cars. Since I have a new manifold I don't want cracked it seemed like a no brainer to add flex _________________ 1979 Euro 931, Olive

Be sure to follow the factory assembly and torque order for turbine, manifold etc it will also make life easier for the warm stuff. If you don't have it ill drop the info here. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

I'd like to see it.. From the FSM?
Does it go into how to get your turbo clocked correctly?
I like to put the turbo on the manifold and block mount with the turbine housing loose to the bearing housing, snug it up a bit to its mounts in place and then tighten a couple nuts on the turbine housing to bearing housing connection..
Take it back off, tighten the crap out if it, and it's clocked.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

First real drive in over 10 years for this 924.
Feels good to drive a 924 again.
Needs tons of work but feels like a good base to build on.

Had a nice Other Nines (everything BUT 911s) at Munk's Motors the other day... especially nice as not only did we get Karl's 931 up on the hoist for a full going-over/inspection, but in fact had 5 924 owners present! I drove my Turbo too, so we at least had 2 924's in attendance (despite the snow and salt), and 4 Turbo owners no less...
Then we drove home, washed the salt off our poor cars, and wait for spring...
Starting to grow the 924 presence again in town (Detroit area)... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Lights are all sorted, except reversing lights...i need to get under the car and clean the connectors on the gearbox
Car starts nicely cold and warm, idles and revs well. Cooling works as it should.
Brakes work decently and no rattles are present in the steering assembly or suspension.
I started to strap on the interior bits to get it half-ass presentable for MOT this Friday.
No cabin heat..and open roof as the aftermarket glass flew off weeks ago during one of the test drives

Just downloaded that, thank you Cedric. They list a double clamp on the last page, I've never seen this. Any idea where to find one ?
