Here's a full nut and bolt restoration going under the hammer soon. Anything is possible - http://www.silverstoneauctions.com/1979-porsche-924-turbo-s-1 I know this car and its has a ton of cash lavished on it, far more than the guide price suggests. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Well. I have the car mostly cleaned out. Dry ice blasted the interior, still have to pull the dash and steering (for swap with donor 924 as PO tried to use a screwdriver on the ignition switch).
Cleaned up pretty well. Factory soundproofing on floor mostly stayed as well as on back deck. Rear fender well dampening came off. Gonna put dynamat on the whole thing anyway.
PO had screwed floor mats down with self tappers as well as some speakers where rear seats used to be. Pulled out tons of wiring. A fellow member of the board has offered to donate a wiring harness from a 924 so I am going to pull the entire harness and replace.
I am going to have the car down to bare shell before repaint. Going to keep it guards red but interior will go black instead of brown (my donor car is black interior). Not sure if I will put AC in. This car appears to have had dealer installed AC and my donor car has it but just don't know if I want to deal with it.

AC is a great thing to have, it will make you use the car more often which is a good thing.
I see that somebody cut the floor near the back seats, probably to change the gearbox linkage without dropping the gearbox.
You should either weld it back on if you can do a proper seal job or fiberglass it shut...or clean it and fabricate a lid that you can screw on and off if you can...but dont let it open as it will be loud in the car. _________________ https://www.the924.com |

Yeah, I am going to weld up all the holes the stupid PO put in the car. Gonna fabricate a plate there and weld it on. It appears he put a roll cage inside and did a butcher job while doing it.
This thing seems like it is going to take more work than my C280 restoration. _________________ 1990 928S4
