I have been working on rebuilding my 1981 Porsche 924. I removed the center console and dash for recovering. There is one part that I cannot remember where it goes. The part in question is a large two fingered clamp attached to a metal bar about 6 inches long with a hole on one end and screw nut on the other. I inquired of a parts supplier what this part is and where it goes. I was told that it was to hold the radio in place. I don't doubt they are right but I cannot quite see how it is placed and how it works. I thought I would ask the forum if a similar part was noted and how it was fastened in the car. If you have one and can take a photo of it I will send you an email address to send the photo.
thanks in advance for your help.

I was wondering if that was the part you were talking about!

The two prongs face backwards towards the shifter, so that the radio will slide between them.

The flat bar with two holes sits on top of the carpet, on top of the tunnel, bolted to the tunnel with two screws vertically down through those two holes.

The two little flanges on the end, with room for small sheetmetal screws, are to support the center console sides.

Thanks, that is what I needed to know. I put down new carpet so probably covered my holes. --Ted
