I have a 1980 924. I picked up another one (i have 2 now) and it's all stock.

It runs well, it can start well. The usual when hot it wont start then it'll start. It idles smooth.. ect.

But at about 1300 rpm, the engine will stumble/missfire, the lights will dim, and the tach will bounce around. once it passes it, it's fine. I've seen it happen at higher RPM also.

the cap and rotor are new.
I changed the alternator to a known working one. i checked the grounds. The old alternator had an added ground strap. removed it and no difference.

I swapped out the ignition box with a known good one and again, same.

Changed out the whole dizzy to a known good one. no difference.

Not sure what else to check?

Turned out to be alternator wiring.
