Bro, this killer is a killer thread! I thought of your beautiful 931 when I saw the posters car.
Why knock the North American cars? They are what Porsche designed, and we can celebrate their differences! |

Had a custom cam ground by AGAP of Sweden on a new cam core.
237°@0.050" lift for the inlet, with max lift 12.2mm/0.480"
229°@0.050" lift for the exhaust, with max lift 11.9mm/0.469"
Ground on a 112° lobe separation angle.
This will be fitted along with solid lifters from Sten Parner Motorsport (Thanks Gegge)
Do you know if the grinder had heat treated or otherwise coated the lobs for wear resistance?
Shape of new cam:-

It was a new cam core blank to start with so came heat-treated.
I could have just had this profile ground on my original cam but was concerned about grinding through the case hardening.
The grinder was very honest and basically said he could not give any guarantee on hardness with a regrind so offered to source a brand new iron blank which I went with.
I did get a price for a one-off billet steel cam but it was almost double the price. _________________ 1979 UK 932 |

Agreed. A Porsche is a Porsche, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. _________________ 1979 UK 932 |
