Indeed, the rods are probably good, but the top of those pistons look pretty beat up... I don't know what is acceptable and what isn't.
Otherwise I always have the engine that is in the car that could be broken down after the build.

I just checked out my local machine shop and they are very reasonable to offset grind the crank.
I believe I've got the correct (longer) rods picked out and am trying to find a piston that gives me somewhere in the 8.6:1 to 9.1:1 CR.

Since this motor will never be EFI'd (due to the carbs), I am planning to use MegaJolt to debug the sensor mount, sensor position, EDIS tuning, and spark map tuning.

bump. which off the shelf parts get me 88 mm pistons, 150mm rods, 931

Looks really good. I don't see a crank position sensor. Is it not fitted yet?

No, haven't had opportunity to mock up the bracket yet. I have the sensor, I have the trigger wheel and spacers fitted, just haven't done the bracket and pickup yet. So as not to introduce too many variables at once, I'm going to get the carb setup running reliably using the stock (conservative) ignition setup, and then swap in the programmable stuff later.

I'd love to know the part numbers of the pistons and rods used in this build. It would make it so much easier to find a local who might stock the parts. If not could you let us know the make and model of the cars these were for.
Figuring this stuff out is not that easy over this side of the world!
i hate to think what it was like in the non internet days! |
