Hello all,

Started this thread with a list of turbo part numbers.. however then subsequently found them referenced twice. To not look like a dill I've decided to mod post to include board links that I have found helpfu about hybrid turbos.

An external explanation of turbos, explaining the different components;

http://turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/turbo_tech_basic/

and/or an excellence article about 944 turbos, great explanation of compression curves.

http://rennlist.com/forums/944-turbo-and-turbo-s-forum/102728-finally-compressor-maps-for-k26-k27-2-a.html

A gentle introduction to turbo hybrids. Enough part number for you to appreciate the links after:

Porsche 931/ 951 turbo part numbers:

http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=15595&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

and

http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=40119 (you might notice that this is the same link posted by Fast Eddy in the following post.. this was an edit as I'd lost the link... thanks Eddy.)

A concise wrap of turbo options (helpful to have part number from above post while reading)

http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=33955&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

Link to compressor maps for the 2664 and 2470 compressor maps.

This following post is about water cooling bearing, however I'm posting as it explains the initial thoughts behind a s2 951 hydrid arrangement.. and the water cooling seems like a cool idea however well reference in Ideolas build thread.

My favourite part of this post was:

The "hybrid" is good for 300 hp and you get an instant 10-20 hp. The reason is because the turbo is now working with 75% efficiency instead of 60%. -- Thanks Gegge

So it took me a bit to get my head around using a S2 944 turbo in a 931. This post helped clear it up for me:

http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=15595&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

Another post with part number for 951/931 turbos:

http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=23343&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

Ok, so not the world most comprehensive set of links about turbos however is does link a few of the 'hybrid' discussion that I felt helped me. Especially as I think the 951 S2 hybrid makes sense for what I am planning. As i continue my research I'll post any additional links here as well.

If you think I've missed a link, feel free to message me with the link and I'll include. Will look at finding some links that explain why anyone would want to make a hybrid turbo tomorrow, a number of good explanations however so difficult to keep track of everything.

Personally I think this posting is important. The more things are tied together the better. Forgive me if I am wrong, but I have been through every thread the last few days and not found one number I have been trying to verify until now.

This is what I have in my collection of turbo's

951.123.131.03 already stated as the PN for 951S Turbo

However 951 S turbo's other PN is 5326 988 7042 (which replaces the previous ...-7041)

My turbo only shows this PN 5326 988 7042

K26-2670GGA/8.11
5326-988-7041 / 5326-710-0521(CHRA) / 5326-711-0037 (svc kit) / 8 A/R
5326-988-7042 / 5326-710-0522(CHRA) / 5326-711-0037 (svc kit) / 8 A/R

Comp dia 2.6
Comp inducer 1.8" / 46mm
Turbine OD 2.52" / 64mm
Turbine exducer 2.17"/ 55mm

Compressor Housing 53261015213

Thanks again for trying to pull everything together

Thank you. There is so much information on this board however finding it can be very 'pleasurable', so I'm glad it was of value to someone.

I'm still progressing on my turbo journey however have become aware that modern turbo workshops can essentially build hot or cold sides for customers directly. The need to mix parts from various turbos (especially when you don't have the spare turbos to begin with) is not as strong as it once was.

I will post more on my findings in this regard as I continue my journey.
