What options? Do you have the paint code? It looks like Meteor Grey Metallic LY7Z to me, which is sort of a charcoal color, not quite black.
According to this thread, there was no plain jane black offered in 1982. There was Mocha black LM9V, which is actually like a very dark chocolate brown (this is the color of SPIKE and WOODY). And there was Meteor grey metallic LY7Z (very close to the same code as the previous year's Dolomite Grey Metallic LY7V, the color the Club Sport was before respray...see orig pix here). There was a Black metallic LM9V offered in 1981-82. So maybe it's that.
The standard Black (non-metallic) L041 was available on the early cars and reintroduced with the 924S, but apparently not an option for the 931. |
I could have mis-read the color option as LM9Y which was actually LM9V. I think it's probably the Mocha Black severely faded. I'll double check the code in the morning. |
Did you ever confirm the code? It definitely does not look like Mocha Black to me. It's probably either Dolomite or Meteor Gray Metallic. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Yes, here's the original Warranty Voucher. Black on black. I know the car was resprayed but the door jambs and engine bay are the same color as the exterior. I will get an experts opinion before I have it painted.

Lm9y is Metallic black
Look in the trunk area for unfaded original paint. You can test the paint type (single stage or base/clear) by polishing or sanding an area. Clear will come off as white when sanded. The car color will come off if it is a single stage when sanded or buffed.
All solid colors were single stage.
All metallics were clear coated. |

Looks like a nice car! You're really expanding the collection. And also replaced the Suburban by a Cayenne? _________________ 911SC - 1980 |

Sold two more of the collection this weekend. Profile signature updated accordingly. I'm down to the 941, the D-Prod, the PolyForm SuperWide, and the 928. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I've sold everything now except for the 941 (plan to keep), the Silver Automotion car (available), and the Fiat X1/9 (heading to BAT soon).
There were many things that motivated the liquidation, but the primary reason was to fund an invention / patent I am working on.
