Ouch! Looks like heat treating hasn't happened properly... Original resurfaced lifters or new aftermarket?

Really got to hate it when you pay the $'s and get let down like that.

Brand new oe lifters...because used ones void the warranty on the cam!

Looks more like lifter surface failure to me than cam surface failure..

Some of my cam lobes don't look too hot on there tips, similar to that but not that bad, but my lifters look just fine still..
This to me looks like the lifter surface failed and took the cam with it..

Sorry to see this.

Was that an original billet or one of the hard-faced cams?

That's an original billet cam. The company that bought the Integral IP said they wouldn't do new billet grinds because they had gotten too many complaints of failures. This is the first I've seen of a 924 cam failure, though.

It's getting tossed in a box and shipped up to Oregon Cam Grinding for repair.

Why is it being shipped? Because OCG is in Washington, of course!

I suspect some people we know could come up with all sorts of ways to politicize that post.

I'll just say that I'll be taking a very close look at mine when I get back to working on it this winter (once I get the BMW out of my garage and down the road). I suspect I'll have to have it looked at as well.

Yeah. I hate that car with a passion. Never met a more rusty "California" car. be glad when it's gone and I can buy myself a new car and I can play with fun cars again.
