I was wondering how much it would cost to rebuild a 79 924 Snail shell tranny.
I see Ideola's has a rebuild kit with 1st and 2nd gear synchros for $465, what's a ballpark on getting that installed.
Thanks, Ron |

I organised my rebuild through Ideola and paid $500 labor _________________ Over the top of skyline, total brake failure.... hit the wall at over 200 kp/h at the dipper, so anyone who has to brake for the esses is a pussy.

I have recently learned that the CMS dog teeth listed as for the 016Y/Z snailshell are incorrect and will not work. I need to update my website. But be aware that we currently do not have a solution for first gear dog rings on the 016 snail.
Also, the aftermarket producer of the reseal kit has just discontinued production of the kit I was reselling. Need to update that too. I think I can still get everything in the kit except for the paper gasket, but will need to confirm. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

In a month or so I'll be selling an Audi five speed if you want to convert. |

All the gears are fine as I recall I really only need the synchro between first and second gear from what I remember, maybe the one for first as well, and whatever else is needed to replace those.

1st and 2nd gear synchros aren't a problem. You will need a seal kit. For the NLA paper gasket, you can make your own or use gasket-maker compound. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
