Does anybody have more detailed info on the GTS breather system?
The GTS has an extra breather pipe on the rear of the valve cover that goes to the catch tank (first picture).
But I would like to know where the breather pipe on the engine goes to on a GTS (second picture)

Looks like a common crankcase breather port on any 931 block. In a 931, a hose attaches to that nipple and runs to the top of the plastic AOS box in the first picture. Not sure on a GTS if it's the same. Send one over, we'll take a look! _________________ '83 944 Track car.

The top inlet pipe of the breather is already used by the hose from the valve cover as you can see on the first picture.
So where should the hose connected to the pipe on the block (second picture) go ? _________________ 937 trackday car

there should be a drain line from the purolator seperator that goes back to the crankcase vent _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net

There was a revision for the turbo breather system. You might look at your PET so you can see the two versions. I don't suspect there would be any need for any extra ventilation. _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net

I have the revision for the turbo breather.
If there is no need for an extra breather, why did the GTS have one ?
I am using the 931 for track use. Bearing in mind the GTS is also built for track. _________________ 937 trackday car

Because the GTS is running more boost than a factory turbo car and the factory likely found it necessary.
Much like the Le Mans cars with the coolant system system rerouted, external water pump, etc. some changes aren't needed for a street car taken to the track occasionally, but for one built for extreme track duty, solutions to problems that occur are found and implemented.
More vents won't hurt and in fact running a vacuum on the back side of the rings will help them seal better. Turbocharged cars tend to pressurize the crankcase if the crankcase vent is configured improperly or the PCV valve fails. _________________ Stefan

PVC valve, does the 931 have that and what is it ?
I have a 924 valve cover with a vent that I can use.
I just wanted to know if it could not do any wrong. I was not sure if it would conflict with the revision for the turbo breather on the cilinder head (see picture below).

I dont recall any PVC system other than the Purolator catch can. The pics you reference I suspect is the GTS CS, I different beast than the GTS. In my Factory GTS Manual I don't show the rear line in question.
I dont know if opening up the case to more intake suction will make a difference in a negative way. _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net
