I was thinking about using the TPI system. The V8 mod seems simple enough. Just wondering if the intake ram assembly fits under the stock hood or if I have to use a scoop. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks

Somewhere I have dimensions for the TPI as i thought about using one on mine at the beginning. I would be tight but it may fit. I never picked one up to see how it would fit. However they are not good for high RPMs and are limited in max flow. So I have a late LT1 intake modified to work that I will be using after I get my car running. I currently have a Holley on a Weiand X-terminator to get it running.

I have this setup in my camaro. I am just building a daily driver with a little stoplight to stoplight zip. This setup in my Chevy is very quick. I am not looking to race just have fun. I plan to pick up a 79 Na next weekend. The motor is ok but the owner grew tired of his project. His loss my gain. I have a small block that I just went thru. Kind of a companion car to my 5.7 Z. I am almost done with that one and I just can't sit without playing with something. Anyway that's my story. I will try to post the build so you guys can throw out ideas, any and all will be helpful. Thanks.

You'll probably want to get rid of that snailshell tranny and switch to an Audi style from a 944.

Been thinking about the need to upgrade the trans. Motor is on the stand and I am starting to go through it. The car comes in next week. It has from what I am told a stage 1 cam and other goodies. The carve and intake are gone. I might have a motor for sale cheap!

How much is cheap? It's never a bad idea to have a spare.

I was told it was a rebuild with aprox 6k miles on it. The cam is a billet virgin grind stage one. Can't remember the company that did it. I am going to get it running before I pull it. I was told this motor has about 185 Hp. Interested in seeing how it runs compared to my v8 280. Maybe it will stay if it impresses me enough. Nothing like the roar of a v8 though.

185hp out of a N/A sounds like BS. Getting 160hp is very tough.

Just what I was told. I'm new to these so I don't know. I do know how to make 300 Hp out of a V8 though.

After a very long delay I finally get to play with my toys again. I have finished modding the oil pan and mocking up the motor mounts. Thought I would be done with this by now but life gets in the way. Looking at a Toyota m/c for the brakes. Looks like an easy swap. Have had the motor in for fit and it looks ok. I am staying relatively low in the horsepower dept so I can use the existing drivetrain. Just thought I would update this project.
