Difficult to see from your pic, but it looks too far open, try this http://www.944online.com/cgi-bin/forum/forum.cgi?board=944-1;action=display;num=1346860338

Thanks for that post!

I thought it was supposed to be more open then that when it's cold? I didn't know you could adjust it, so I just opened it a bit more and stuck it back in the fridge. Lets see if this does anything, it did open a little more.

You are on the right track. Then put 12V to it and it should close. There is a metal coil inside with 12V on it it heats up and closes the valve.

They can be rebuilt. The 30 ohms is what you want to get to. The lenght of wire coil inside determines the time it takes too shut off the air flow. Coated wire won't work. Like electomagnet wire. I got some stuff from a co. who makes wire for NASA. 1 inch equals 1 ohm. Double coating of wolven fibreglass. A couple dollars a foot. The most difficult part is getting the halves apart. I've done several for folks on the forum.
They do get quite dirty over time.

that bright part is just the flash reflecting the oily surface, that's not the metal part. So that little opening is the largest opening it gets. Shouldn't it get more open then that?

It really is a small opening! http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Bosch+Auxiliary+Air+Valve&qpvt=Bosch+Auxiliary+Air+Valve&FORM=IGRE#view=detail&id=0BE263A5BB8C06C83CA4B3E7EF683D62292380D6&selectedIndex=38
