Hi Ideola,
I was wondering if you have access to more information than us mortals.
Everybody can access the online catalog and price list, but (to put it mathematically) pricing seems to be a necessary but not sufficient condition for availability.

for instance for the coolant tube I found out that only when the parts dealer ordered it, it turned out to be not available anymore.
Cheers,
Duncan

I signed up as a part dealer in January. Requires a federal tax ID and a state sales tax license here in the U.S. Also costs a monthly subscription fee, so it only makes sense to do it if you have a legitimate business. I make barely enough margin on the OEM parts to cover the monthly fee plus the associated credit card or paypal transaction fees.

I could charge more for the OEM parts, but then I wouldn't be competitive with other online parts dealers. At this point, I just need the subscription to pay for itself, I don't really need it to make money. It is worth it to be able to consolidate my suppliers down to only two for all of the OEM stuff...plus the ease of seeing directly into availability, and being able to handle all ordering online.

The problem with the system is that it is not very accurate on availability. There are parts that show up with pricing, but when you inquire, they are NLA. There are parts that show up as "pricing on request" which more often than not are also NLA, but some of them I know for a fact are still available, they just don't publish the pricing.

So what I have to do is submit a "pricing and availability" check through the online system. The contact who fulfills my order is very responsive online (as you can see from the above example), which is great. No more waiting days and weeks for a call back.

Sorry, I was not patient enough

This is what I use to check pricing of parts:

Ideola, according to Daniel Berwind at Jim Ellis part number 052 is round in shape. Can you tell if it is the same ohm value as the rectangular one on my car. The shape is irrelevant as long as the ohms are the same.

1,8 is stamped on mine, I assume that is the ohm rate.

Thanks.

I don't know of any way to confirm that, as those kinds of detailed specs are not in PET or FSM. Since there are only two in the country, it will be difficult to even look at one.

Interesting. That lookup tool is not available on the US or UK sites. I tried plugging in some numbers, however, and I don't get anything back. What format do you use for the part numbers???

Just the number without spaces

477905052A VORWIDERSTAND 18,73 €

That is without VAT @20%
So with VAT that is less than $20

Actually, if it's 18,73 € that is equal to $25.43 in USD, not including whatever VAT and freight charges might have been added to get the two remaining parts over here to the US...

The currency issue is probably one of the reasons the parts search is not enabled outside of Germany.

You are completely right , I did the conversion the wrong way
it is 19*1.20*1.30=30. Long day at the office.....

In conversion from US$ to euro, the VAT and the $ to € cancel roughly.

Ideola and Paul, I followed the links in Paul's post and it took me to an exact match for my resistor. It was like seeing an old friend. I purchased it from seekpart24. Ideola I was not convinced that the part you found was the same as what I needed. I would much rather buy parts from you because of your participation and help on this board but I wasen't sure you were talking about the correct part.
I find it hard to believe that more early 924s aren't having this same resistor going bad. Mine looked like it exploded and caught on fire after only 18,000 miles. It took me 4 or 5 hours on the computer to locate the part and still don't have it in hand. I expect an e-mail anytime explaining that the part is NLA even though my money has allready been taken out of my account. I will report back if I get the correct part or not.

Ohms confirmed 1.8 just removed from the inside firewall 82 924 with AC it runs the fan at low speed. I think I have 2 of these. $15 ea shipped in US. They are the same as a early =<85 944.

85.5 944 and up up ran a dual set on an aluminum bracket. They ohm out at 1 ohm ea.

This is the one I bought. Identical to the original.

But more importantly I finally figure out how to post pictures.
