OK, i'll jump in too.
I am currently working for U.S. Steel as a millwright / maint tech. I was able to pass through the 24 month apprenticeship program in just 6 months to become a journyman millwright. Its thanks to this job that I was able to finally get my porsche.
Prior to that I was a machine builder skilled in hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and fabrication of large industrial machines. I lost my long time job of 29 years at Van Dorn to a German take over by Demag and this opened the door for the steel mill. |

addendum to my earlier post.
Was in toy sales my whole career. I could mention some toys you all played with but it would take too long.
For some reason the first 20 years all the companies listed had me for 5 years each.
Topper Toys ......the absolute best toy cap gun sets ever
Mattel Toys.........great toys with Barbie the best sellers
Parker Bros. ......monopoly the best and others which you all know
Empire of Carolina...Big Wheels
Fisher Price........Farm etc. very good company
My own rep [20 years] company which I traveled the Orient for a month ea Jan. Sold many companies [7] at one time on commission. Made a very large salary
on commission.
Companies I represented
Lionel Trains........9 million dollar volume
Playhut...........popup tents
Preschool company [Italian] which I forgot the name
and 4- 5 companies which you would know them as they were small.
Toys R Us was by far the largest company I sold to. In a 5 year stretch I took them from 26 million to 130 million.
JC Penny
Woolworth
If you remember any of the above companies items lets hear it. _________________ 77 1/2 track car

God bless you sir. I always thought I would be able to retire someday but as time goes by it appears I will have to work until the day I die. I guess I will have to settle on "retiring" vicariously. Many years ago I made a HUGE mistake and left a crappy, low paying city job with a pension for a higher salary private job. Major f@ck up on my part!
Oh, and I work for a computer company. _________________ 1982 931- Stock with MBC at 8psi

At this point mostly retired. Was a mechanical engineer after Vietnam, then worked for a steel tubing outfit, Ramsey Piston Ring(now part of Sealed Power I think) and then as a Facilities Engineer for National Renewable Energy Lab(all the solar stuff). Ended up doing construction management. An ex whitewater canoer (Grand Canyon, Selway, Chatooga but had to quit due to back problems. I still make canoe and kayak paddles and have a cnc router that I also make a few signs with and even a plug for a mold for my home made 924 heater cover.
As a college student I worked on some race cars(Lotus 23 - Alfa, Can AM Lola T-163) and caught the bug. Bought the long wanted toy car(924) a couple of years ago and might actually get it running this year. We spend a lot of time traveling as winters in the Colorado mountains in the garage are cold and our backs don't like the amount of ice and snow around for 4 months at 8000 ft. Currently in Mexico for 3 months then a many years awaited 3 weeks in New Zealand and home in April. _________________ Mike

17 and still a student. Currently in my last year of high school and I plan to go into aviation next year (specifically commercial piloting)
I am currently unemployed and can only afford to spend $20 a week, which all goes straight into my gas tank before I have a chance to spend it impulsively (something I often do )
I plan to someday own many porsches and live in a nice big house, but for now I'm enjoying being young and (relatively) stress free!
I'm extremely lucky my toofah is so good to me, otherwise I'd be royally screwed! |

66.
Mechanical Engineer. Forgotten how many times I've retired over the last 10 years. Have always been a car nut. Don't get a great deal of time at home to play with the 931 which is slowly being fitted with a Carrera body kit. Almost finished.
Daily driver, Mercedes CLK430 or a Ford Ranger ute. _________________ 1981 931 |

I am a Chemical Fire Suppression Design Engineer. I was an Adjunct Professor teaching Computer Aided Design for ten years until I burned out. I also played drums in rock bands in the late 60s and early 70s. I don't remember too much about that time period. _________________ 1978 924
