I bought a new thermostat and O ring! WhenI went to install the ther4mostat has a rubberring with a slit to fit around the therm. ? Do I also need O ring!seems too thick and awkward to install!

o ring goes on top of the thermostat not around it. |

i think it depends on what type of o ring u have, some of them are made to go around because they have this little slot in it, the one i got from performance products was like that, but the one on my car before was not like that, it just went on top |

Thanks !!!!!! I have both types 1 came with therm. and I asked for the o ring If not supplied with therm. Now I have it too! So I only need 1 or the other not both! Hi Lars
