Hey guys,
Acquired a 1979 924 and I've almost got it running.
Been sitting in a mate's carport and slowly falling apart for the last six years.
Just had to take it off him and put some love back into it.
Just wanted to say that this forum/community is amazing and has been really helpful with information.
This is me replacing the fuel pump

Indoor rock climber , one way to OVERSEE the car from a different angle, PS he is an Aussie thats why the rocks are upside down. Thats what I call Hanging around in the workshop
PS Had a look at your website, have a look at the lightorama products might make your job easier

I'll be getting into a chassis restoration this winter: Detected some minor rust.
Maintaing her myself has become very rewarding…
An absolute joy to drive.
Thank you guys and girls. |

great picture !
i've also found minor surface rust on the side sills, where you should NOT jack up the car...and previous owners did...so i cleaned the area with a hand metal brush (dont insist too much you'll do more damage) and then applied a chemically smart base paint that converts ferric oxide into a stable, waterproof black laque. then added rubberized paint over that and job done.
area free of rust, protected and sealed. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

My 1978 model with some exterior modifications before I pushed it back into the workshop to create something more special and outstanding.

Treu @ Morghen, that's the procedure I will roll into, but…
Previous attempts like that on several V-dubs did
not produce the desired result I had in mind:
Within two winters rust rears its ugly head
I don't want/need this to happen too the Toofah
The Toofah is too precious to me to let that happen.
I will probably redo the complete undercoating
and reseal various corners after taking it all off
carefully & patiently and leave & restore the factory zink coating.
A lot of work but I don't want to be working underneath it again soon
Another reason is I have no use for her during summer.
Healthy CIS/engine and four good tyres will defeat any winter storm coming from the east
The toofah can be a real charm when snow flies hehehe

I'm curious what your redneck conversion will bring
I take it your engine is still in good nick? Factory setup?
Cheers, Harm. _________________ Porsche 924 NA 1982 LY7A/A3A3 _ Greater driving pleasure never harmed anyone. |
