Since it's been raised before, and recently again... and I've just come across a source...

Some have asked what our air dam is made of, on the #77 ITB car. It's a red flexible and extremely durable piece of conveyor belting that just happens to be a pretty red color! Unfortunately, as it was donated to us, I can't point at where to get it.

However, in recent perusal of circle-track supplier catalogs, I noticed that they have air dam material readily available in various colors:

One piece, at around $20, should be more than enough to do the front of the car. We just screw directly though it into the bottom of the front lip. We did find it necessary to stick on two pieces of steel at each end, due to the way the fender lip curves up.

Now if you really want conveyor belt I can get quite a bit. Friends have a crane company and there is a bunch lying around salvaged from some mine demo projects. It is truly old, black, and ugly but could probably be painted Shipping would be pretty high as it is 3/8"-1/2" thick so rather stiff and quite heavy. I've been thinking about putting it on my GMC truck.

Sorry, no pics - though they're really quite simple. Might be caught in a pic of the car in general somewhere on the website...

OK, take a look at this page, there's a few of us working on the front of the car about halfway down:

2nd edit: here's one more good close-up:

I used some of that lawn/planter edging from Home Depot and trimmed off the bottom of the extrusion for the spike leaving only the round "top", then turned it upside down. Seems to work OK on a 944 front valence....it "gives" a little when it rubs. $32+hardware.
