Yesterday I tried to fit 951 A-arms (1986) on my 931, the rear end is thicker then a steel arm, and the aloy arms hit the cross-meber.
Has anybody modified trhe cross member ? I asume I need te cut and weld ? _________________ 937 trackday car

There is a piece of metal on the "inside" of the cross member that comes down at an angle that will prevent the bushing end of the alu a-arms from fitting such that you can align the bolt with the bushing hole. The bushing end of the alu arms is a little bit fatter than the steel arms, so you can't quite get the holes to align because this angled metal piece prevents the alu arm from going up into the cross member as far as it needs to.
On both the Club Sport and the UWB, I made two cuts on either side of this angled piece of metal in the cross member, about inch or so from the bottom, and bent the "freed" portion up to make room for the a-arm. It is hardly a structural concern at that location on the cross member, especially once the a-arm is installed. If one were really concerned about strength in that portion of the cross member, you could weld in another piece just to be safe. But there is a rather large reinforcing section right in the center of the cross member. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

+1, not to mention that piece is so thin I can bend it by hand. . .likely purpose is to prevent the box from spreading. Trim away! _________________ Toofah King Bad
