I am thinking of converting my 931 rack to a manual rack from a Europeanen 924s.

Does anybody know if the 924s rack is quicker?

I can't recall what the ratio is but I think the manual rack has very good feel.

So I don't see any benefit of hassling with the 924S rack if you can find the optional 931 rack. For reference, the 924/931 racks all have the same part numbers, but different suffixes:
478 419 061 C: most common, in all 924/931 except RHD 924, ROW 931, and optioned 931
478 419 061 A: RHD 924
478 419 061 B: optional 931 rack

So if you can find a "B" rack, you'd get the same 22.39 ratio as the manual 924S/944 rack.

I am not sure that the 924 and 924S/944 steering racks are interchangeable.
I believe they have different mounting points

Dan offers special brackets that let you use 924S/944 steering rack on 924/931 crossmember.

AFAIK, the internals of manual 944 rack are interchangable with 924/931 rack.

Interchangeable ??? Interesting

The thing is that I have installed a 951 engine (with 944 crossmember of course) on a N/A 924 and I dont have a steering rack, but the 924 one. I was wondering if anyone used a 2.0ltr rack with some brackets.

I modified 924/931 steel crossmember to accept 2,5liter engine:

Wow, did you fab those mounts? Out of what?

FWIW, I have a non leaky power setup I would sell cheap.

The mounts itself are from Lada Niva but if you look closely, the mounts sit on different angles to properly acommodate 2.5liter engine.

The mounts itselves are very rigid, reminding me more of the Vibra Technics mounts that I have on my Gulf.
