I bought some rear latches of ebay and they were worse than mine.
The description said GOOD. Well they were only good for one thing.
Anyway I decided to have a good look at what fails on these.
Out with the 5mm drill bit
Well stuff me- how simple was that? So I did the same to the other one.
Looking at it, the crescent part is what wears out on the bottom and the left and right are intechangeable.
So I swapped the metal plates over, drilled out a clearance hole and countersunk one side and tapped a 6mm hole in the other.
Cleaned up the parts, greased and assembled.
(be wary of the spring- mine shot off to the nether regions of the shed)
Done- a new lease on life for the latch.
