Not fast. This is for the UWB project. I already have a solution, but this is a heckuva lot purdier

Made this too, but it needs tweaking i.e. not perfect.

Thanks, that will give me time to tweak the mount holes. On the first one they were off. Sometimes its hard to get all the bolt patterns right. I scanned the dist mount, projected the circles in Corel, converted to dxf, and brought it over to the cad. Something was lost in the technique (my eyeballing the circles in Corel) but I had to try. It got me close.

I thought it looked cool but was sad to know it will be between the head and firewall!

Hey yea I hung them just to get a look and your right
the damn doors are off so I talked to a painter and he said to wet
sand till really smooth then since its the build coat I could either add more overly reduced base coat lightly or add something to the clear and shoot
itwith all the panels so thats what Ill do. Im confident as I had to do that to the hood as I didnt get all the laquar thinner out of the gun inbetween the sealer and base and it curdled after the clear build coat was on. If
you look at the hood pics its fine now.

I posted some pics tonight of the doors on as well and you can see
you were right bout sghooting metalics and gravity.

Just tidying up a bit of info ...

http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=26176&highlight=80na

...and adding these pics for the hybrid composite tubular aluminum/carbon shift rod in keeping with the theme of lightening everything that isn't usually lightened.

This is Version 1 for testing. Shown prior to carbon wrap during 'floor' testing. The 2nd picture is the carbon wrap applied using techniques to prevent galvanic action (corrosion) between the carbon and aluminum.
This significantly increased the stiffness of the aluminum and couldn't be done without it. The wrap was vacuum consolidated to get a better resin to fiber ratio (higher strength) and cured at higher temps.

Peel ply being taken off the carbon.

It is in the car now and shifts totally normal and nice (as it sits ) and at about 1/3 of the weight if memory serves.

Pic is of the temporary rear wheel adapter for the civic wheel being machined. Also working on a one piece AL engine mount

Backside of the adapter in the fixture. Should have it test mounted at the end of today.

Even with the new temporary adapters the savings is -8lbs at each side at the rear! This is now close to -40lbs off the front end unsprung and another -16lbs off the rear. All hardware included in the comparison.

-56 lbs (US) of unsprung weight removed total. Not to mention inertial savings yet to be calculated.

More pics to follow

Thanks!

Here is another one. The adapters are already bolted on to the rear but the car won't be dropped down just yet.

Found the original 1986 pics of the engine bay...brutal

A rescue and a warning. The rescue is obvious but the warning is for the fold over sheet metal wiring harness holder(s). Don't let it cause an engine fire. The car was bought this way. I believe the previous owner had the car in a Chicago parking garage and the engine had an electrical fire. The fire department came and put it out. Resulting in ....

Its too bad this car can't roll for 92Forty. Its close but not close enough. The car has been stored inside ever since. Only one seat has seen recent use in the '82 931 while the 931 seat gets restored

The interior is pretty much mint. Once seat had some damage (not sure why). Original dash Stored with salt block that was pulled out frequently to be dried out in oven.

Cleaning and organizing yesterday. Pulled this one out from the back where it was blocked from working on it. Replaced it with the BMW 2002 on a rotisserie back there for the moment. Wish the wheels were larger so it rolls easier but this rig is nice. This one is so close to rolling it's not funny and yet... 931 priorities
