I just got word from EBS that the second run of bearings from King arrived yesterday. EBS owes me three sets. So, anybody else need STD main bearings? If so, I can organize another group buy. Lemme know.

It's awful soon after the 1st round.

I may or may not need a new set of bearings, and if so, I don't know what size. I'm planning on re-building a spare engine that I have, but I've got lots of other things on the go and there's no rush since the old one is still running strong.

So, until I crack the case, I've got no clue what I'll need. I was told the engine I picked up was freshly rebuilt, but I'm not counting on anything. It had been out of the car before though, since there was a SAE bolt threaded mostly in holding the bell housing on (the rest were metric)-- seeing that kind of workmanship doesn't inspire much confidence in me though.

Well, obviously, not everybody that needed them got them since we very quickly exhausted King's first run, and I even had to make arrangements to send three sets back to EBS as a favor to them to accommodate one of their European customers.

As I said, EBS owes me three sets, the next run is in, so I thought I'd open it up to see if there are any others in need.

IIRC the group buy price was $95 + shipping, and EBS had them retailing at $125 + shipping.

As far as I know, this is the only source for main bearings anywhere in the world at the moment, unless you get exceedingly lucky and find some NOS box sitting on a forgotten dusty shelf somewhere. It took us forever to get King to do a run of these.

I'd be happy to step in for one set of std. The engine I'll be putting in it this winter was already rebuilt but I will want to rebuild the original just to have on hand.

Green tartan interior, you don't see that on a Civic.

I'm going to pull and rebuild my engine next year. I've a receipt in the service history for a Volkspare recon engine in 1992, and i know the car has done about 40,000 miles since then.
I should really replace the main bearings next year so i will need a set if the timing is right. I may be very lucky and find the mains in good condition as they should be half the age of most. The only problem is i can't commit to a size until i pull and strip the engine as the crank might have been reground in the recon process.
The mains are the last of the NLA parts i am missing (i think) as i managed to get peformance valve springs from Aus and ARP conrod bolts form EBS.
Thanks to the forum members who organised the group buys originally.
