I have an old '72 Jeep Commando up in Maine sitting in mothballs as my next project. Looking forward to working on that someday.

NO PORSCHE!!!! Forget that.
For a daily driver I think I would go for a VW Jetta.
For a toy I think one of these...
240Z
MGA (I would love a TC but )
maybe even a Fiat. _________________ Rick

Hm...
A Nissan 240sx with a SR20DET engine swap. I drove one not to long ago, and I must say, it was the most amazing car I have ever driven
It would be tough finding a good one for 10k, but a RX-7 FD would be really nice
Maybe a 2000 Civic SI with turbo...but I have a hard time seeing my self have any fun in a FWD car :/ _________________ =====>Alex<=====

For less than 10k I know a nice 911 SC right now that has bent front fender, broken front rim and a bent steering knuckle.
If it's purely a hobby car, then I'd buy our local Formula 3000 analogue, named "Estonia" Model 21 that is sitting next to my garage.
Or just made my Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 Cossie faster. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

I can't think of any car I'd want if I didn't have a 924, maybe a mountain bike.

At the top of my list (in no particular order):
Opel GT
VW Scirocco
VW Karman Ghia
Nissan 240Z, 260Z or 280Z
Corvair
Mazda RX7 (the original body style)
There's lots more on my list, but I'll stop at six. |
I owned and raced 3 different Opel GTs (2 1969s and 1 1970). The later cars were gutless and boring, but the 69s and 70s were a blast. I put a crane cam, a hooker header and a side dump on a 69 and it could easily burn rubber with a second gear start and hit 129 mph. The wife didn't like the headlight lever....
I had more fun with a 75 rabbit than any Scirocco.
My brother had a almost new 1970 Karmen Ghia, what a boring car.
Datsun 240Zs were rust buckets but an easy to add a V8.
I owned 2 Corvairs, a 65 Monza convertible, and a 66 Monza, both 140 HP. I once passed a line of about 5 cars doing 45 in the rain at 70 plus, but when I tried to finish the pass, the steering wheel hit full lock, but the car kept going straight.....
Shortly after I bought my new 77 924, I test drove an RX-7 and hated it.
But to answer your question, I'd buy another MGB. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

MGB-GT.
I almost bought a '69 with knock-off wire wheels back in 1995, but I ended up buying my first '77 924 instead. The toofah was a quantum leap forward in almost every respect, but man, that GT had style. _________________ Dan.
