Turned 4-frickin-0 today - ouch.

As a consolation my amazing wife has booked me some jet fighter experience here on the weekend...!!

Though I'm afraid I'll have to put a bigger blower in the 924 else it will feel underpowered...

Those Strikemasters are older than you
They were alway known as constant thrust-variable noise so your 924 will probably be quicker!

You will love it all the same!

Goose and Maverick call-signs are taken - so I'm going to be Spew-Monkey. No bets required. There will be barf.

Don't eat anything for at least 6 hours before the flight and you'll be fine. Make sure your sinuses are clear even if you have to use the 12 hour nose spray. I used to have to almost scream when in a steep dive to keep my ears from feeling like they were going to explode.

Also things will be easier if you talk the pilot into letting you fly the plane once it's off the ground and at altitude. It's easy.

Flying is hours and hours of boredom broken up by moments of sheer terror.

It's the Provost Mk 5 jet I'm signed up for. There's a DVD package etc included with a 60 second vid for "emailing to your mates". I'll host it either on my server, or YT so y'all can take a peek.

OMFG!! What an amazing ride!! We did some amazing tricks and I even got to fly!! He Even let me do 3 aileron rolls and then fly us back to the airport. Pilot took over 1.5 miles out and did the rest. OMFG!!!

Pilot is ex US marine pilot. Used to fly Harriers. Spent about an hour talking through everything so no surprises.

Vid will be a week or so while they edit etc. Can't wait to see it!

Lifes checklist:
1) Fly a jet fighter - BIG FUGGIN' TICK!!

Oh and no barf!!

A few pics my wife took...

Heading out to the jet - me on the left

Strapped in, and away we go...

Back on terra firma... regretfully.

Part of the mission was a low-level mock bombing run on a small island (and a boat who happened to get in our way). We were only a couple of hundred metres off the ground @ 700kmph... wow.

Careful there, it was a test. If you act like you liked it more than you like her, you're in trouble. -And she has photographic evidence for the legal proceedings.
