Nope, not too late. I'll send you an invoice. You are aware that the 5-layer are $20 more than the 3-layer, correct? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Thats cool, was aware of that. After CCing pistons, head and a lot of headscratching, it is by far the cheapest and most practical option. Dont like the idea of machining down Euro pistons or a relief pocket in the head.
Only thought they came 1.3 or 2.2mm and wasn`t aware of the other sizes till I reread the first pages. |

bass gt is out; the "no o-ring" requirement was a deal-breaker for him. Current tally sits at 59.
I submitted the official request today, it'll take two weeks to get the machining done, and at that point, the official order for quantities will be placed. Anyone still wanting in will have between now and then to get their order, specs, and payment to me. Once the machining is done and the official purchase order submitted by me to Cometic, that will be it.
I also confirmed with Cometic that they are NOT going to be doing any add'l pieces for "on the shelf" stock...these pieces are strictly made-to-order. Also, I contacted EBS and they declined participation. So the only way these will be available in the future is via another group buy or a retailer stepping up for some minimum quantity. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Update:
I officially placed the purchase order on Wednesday.
Geometry is done, and it worked out great, I'll be picking up my block, gasket, and two heads on the way home from a business trip tomorrow that is taking me right through Cleveland.
If they hit the timeframes they quoted me, we should see product within 2-3 weeks. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Yes, as I understand it, it takes about 2 weeks for the tooling to get made up, but once that's done, only about 2-3 days to make the parts, then they'll ship the parts out to me, which should only take a day or so... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Update: I picked up the block and the two heads on Friday, chatted with the boys at Cometic for a few minutes. They reconfirmed that tooling should be done by late this week or early next. They also showed me the mylar template, which was pretty cool. So hopefully, product will ship out next week. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Could I raise a practical question at this point?
Will we be able to select our chosen gasket colour soon?
(those of you who have seen Spinal Tap oughta get the combined joke!!)

Tooling is done. I'm waiting for funds from a late addition to the group buy from overseas, but the manufacturing should begin early next week. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
