What would be the easiest way to learn? I just bought a 924 about two weeks ago and learned how to drive the 5 speed in only a matter of hours. Where should I look into racing and drifting? _________________ 1979 Porsche 924- Snailshell

One or the other... but there's somewhat different skills between the two, different objective!
Anyway, for racing - first place to start is SCCA and/or PCA. PCA is of course pca.org, scca is www.scca.org. In Nebraska, specifically, you'd want the Nebraska Region of SCCA:
http://www.nrscca.com/
Mid-America Motorplex appears to be the local track in-state.
#1 recommendation is that you get to know local SCCA members, get out to the track, and see first-hand what it's about... then you can better understand what it is, and how best to approach it.
Realize also that "racing" means different things to different people. To me, it means wheel-to-wheel competition. To others, it may mean lapping days (aka "DE's" - Drivers' Education events, aka HPDE or PDX), or it may mean autocrossing.
For autocross (aka autox), SCCA or other car clubs will be your best bet (including but not limited to PCA; check out also Corvette Club, etc, whomever's active in your area).
SCCA, PCA, and other clubs (like NASA) also run lapping days, under different names (PDX, DE, and HPDE respectively), where you get to turn hot laps on track in a non-competitive environment, with instruction.
If you wish to go wheel-to-wheel, as I have - SCCA's still the oldest and best game in town. In that case, and if you're wanting to race the 924, I recommend looking into Improved Touring, and that you get this book, written by a fellow competitor of mine, Dave Gran: Go Ahead - Take the Wheel:
http://www.amazon.com/Go-Ahead-Wheel-Dave-Gran/dp/0977786005/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223640090&sr=8-1
It's a helluva steal at that price, and an invaluable resource to how to get started in racing.
Hope that helps... _________________ Vaughan Scott

try a HPDE event. That way you can determine (fairly inexpensively) whether it is something you want to pursue.
Be forwarned !! It is addicting !! _________________ Matt

You can go to http://gpl.pca.org/ for the Great Plains Region of the PCA. The closest track to you is Motorsports Park Hastings. MPH, http://www.racemph.com/. They have classes on performance driving and open track days. The Great Plains Region runs a couple of DE's each year, but the schedule for 2009 has not been set as on now. NASA also scheduled a HPDE there this year, but I am not sure that was held.
Mid America Motorplex, MAM, is located just outside of Glenwood, Iowa, and is about two hours and forty five minutes away from Norfolk. They also have a school, the first weekend of the month and open track days called "Fast Fridays".
Mapquest indicates that you are equal distance from both tracks, I thought Norfolk would be closer to Hastings than it is. Hastings is the newer of the two tracks.
You might want to join the "Omaha Crew" for breakfast the first Saturday of each month, the one tomorrow is at the Church Street Cafe in Valley, I hear that one of the members of the group is the current registrar for the GPR and I am sure he would be more than willing to help you get started.
