Were all guests here in someone elses house so we all have to abide by the bill payers rules... whether we agree with them or not... and more specifically whether we agree with the way theyre enforced or not

Strange, he wasn't complaining about the rules, since the rules are perfectly acceptable. He was complaining about your attitude. And now, I'm complaining about it also. You pay for this site? thats nice. Do you have the right to throw it in our faces because you decided to be a jerk? ... nope. Change your attitude.

He pays for this site, he has all the rights. How many times has this board solved a problem with your car or helped you out in a major way? Our admin is to thank for all of that along with the active members. If the admin wants to be a jerk (not contested) once in a while thats fine with me!

Anyone that was offended by any of the admin's remarks IMO needs to grow up. Did any of you take responsibility or apologize for trying to use this board for something illegal?

Umm. Yes.

Peter, no offense taken...I think it was an honest mistake by all involved. One need look no further than the Napster debacle to see how website operators can be held responsible for the action of site visitors. I certainly understand the sensitivity to being held accountable for the actions of others, so in retrospect I can't say that I have any problem with the swift, decisive and curt response.

I for one am immensely thankful for the time, effort, and resources you have invested into this tremendously valuable site...the fact that it is free, in many respects, is a pretty amazing thing. It certainly was not my intent to jeopardize the site...I'll be more judicious in the future.

Umm, no.

Everyone knows the shop manual is copyright protected, there was no "honest" mistake.

It's the Admins' board, the Admins' can act and behave as they see fit.

I also didn't really think about it. I've always thought about scanning a pdf version of mine so I can just have it on screen in the garage since I've got an old laptop out there now. No harm intended on my part, just wasn't thinking.

I admitted my own stupidity, but probably didn't apologize appropriately.

I'm sorry I got involved in this, I didn't mean any harm and certainly didn't want to bring unwanted attention to the administrators, the board, or its owner Peter. Won't happen again.

I had no intent of perpetrating an illegal act, and as I stated in my first post, when I hastily read the original post, I mistook what the subject of the original post was, and offered to assist. As I said, an honest mistake.

What did that horse ever do to you Rasta?

I know no one asked but my opinion is; It's Petes site and he can do any dam thing he wants with it.
His site his rules, love it or leave it - end of story.

As a rather new member, I've been reluctant to comment on this issue, however, I feel that the flames have died down sufficiently for me to throw in my 2 cents.

This is generally a very polite, mature site. Whether the admin is being polite or not has little to do with the majority of the discussions that take place here. This place is a great resource; I'm constantly impressed by the amount of knowledge collected here! This entire incident will cease to be an issue once it is dropped and everyone moves on. We should be talking about cars, not copyright.
